The Top 5 Trends for Fall Fashion 2024

Wherever your fall fashion may take you, you can add some stylish staples to your closet without breaking your budget. The days are passing by quickly and fall is almost upon us, so we thought we would take a moment and share some of the new fall trends of the season.

  1. One of the biggest trends for the Fall of 2024, is the use of voluminous outerwear made of faux fur, feathers, fabric, or yarn. Also snuggly and stylish, ski sweaters aren’t only for the slopes anymore.
  2. Fashion from decades past comes and goes, and this season, the ’60s just called and are back with all things mod, turtlenecks, baby doll dresses, The micro-mini and the swing coat, among other pieces of fashion that you will see making a comeback this fall.
  3. This year will we see extravagant collars as last year we saw big sleeves (which are still in fashion this year but the emphasis will be on the collar!)
  4. Beyoncé has magic powers, even when it comes to fashion.  With her latest album, Cowboys Carter, she has brought back the style of wearing cowboy hats, fringe everything  and cowboy boots. So it’s safe to say, western dressing is here to stay no matter if you live on the East Coast, West Coast, or down South.
  5. And finally, one of my favorite looks, is making a comeback and that is leopard print everything. Your wardrobe basics can be a little edgier, making them some of the most versatile and hard-working pieces., with leopard print. You can have heels, boots, sneakers, jackets, shirts, dresses and even pants that will become your stand out pieces.   I still have a leopard jacket from the early 2000’s that I love to wear from timeout time, not to mention sneakers and heels.

Some of my favorite places to shop for fashion in LBI, Rockland County, where I live and NYC that I highly recommend are:

The Wink Shop located at 1903 Long Beach Blvd Suite 7, In Surf City, NJ

The service is amazing and the clothing they have in their boutique is on trend.

They have the cutest dresses and not to mention some really nice gifts for every occasion.

Society beach located at Long Beach Blvd, In Surf City, NJ

Get lost in paradise in the hottest looks. They have on trend dresses, cute lounge wear and have FREE CITY sweatshirts which have to be the softest I have ever felt and most luscious.  The service is also remarkable.

Tia Maria Boutique located at 104 Maple Ave, New City, NY

I have so many cute and trendy pieces from her boutique. The clothing and accessories she has in her boutique are causal and semi-dressy clothing as well as the cutest sweaters, sweatshirts and rompers. Tia is amazing as is her service.

Maria Luisa Boutique located at 77 South Broadway, Nyack NY

Maria Luisa has footwear to clothing and more. They have many of the regular fashion staples with the focus on global/ethical products. It really is a great mix, not to mention they also have a good selection of gifts.
The people who work here bring great energy and a great vibe!

Shop Untitled, located at 27 W 8th Street, New York City

They have a lot of different designer brands from desert warrior to punk fashion. IN other words, their clothing selection is amazing! Super cute and comfortable items to chose from. Super friendly staff and very clean.

There are MANY others to shop at but these are my ultimate favorites!

So whatever your style is, the Fall is planning to not only be about cooler days, but also about making all of us look cooler in every way!

      Never Ever Forget 9/11

I will always remember where I was on that day and how it impacted everyone’s lives.

I remember working at a daycare that day and having a co-worker tell me her dad worked in the North Tower and in 50 years he NEVER missed a day of work until that day.
I remember having to comfort a parent who thought his wife was on 1 of those planes. Luckily she wasn’t.
I remember driving home that night and seeing State Troopers parked at every exit on the Thruway.
I remember learning that my neighbor lost his dad that day trying to rescue others. He was a firefighter.
I remember hearing about friends who lost siblings in the buildings.

I also remember how this Country BANNED TOGETHER and NEVER let Politics stand between each other – how we were kind and caring of one another.

We need to REMEMBER that because we as a Country have lost sight of what TRULY is important. If you don’t want to do it for yourself and your neighbors do it for the 3,000 lives that were lost that day.

As we remember those lives lost, let’s also today honor the value of life, our country’s resilience and the strength of the American spirit. 9/11 is one of our worst days but it brought out the best in us. It unified us as a country & showed our charitable instincts. Continue that today by paying it forward. Whether it’s a smile, a kind word, or helping out a stranger. It’s that spirit we need now.

Don’t let hate win but rather let love reign.

I’m a vibe that no one can ever replace

So as I said in the last blog post, I had some really interesting dating stories to share. If you read this blog then you know that I am in these chats with girls who talk about their dating lives and the stupid, narcissistic, jerks of men that they either date or are interested in from dating apps.
Before I continue, don’t reach out to me to tell me that your long lost cousin found his wife on a dating app- yes I get it… that was the point of these apps YEARS ago. Today they are all filled with either married men cheating on their wives, young guys who think it’s a flex to sleep with as many as possible, or even catfishers who are trying to scam women out of their money.
I was thinking that we all what the stories are going to be- so instead of telling you the stories, I will tell you about the DMs I have received asking for my dating advice:

Question 1: For a first date this guy asked me out on a coffee date? Is that showing him that my standards are low, when they aren’t anywhere close to that?

MY ANSWER: A cute cafe with a romantic ambiance and the best coffee in town is the perfect way to lay the foundation for that special connection you’re hoping to build. Coffee shop dates are the most socially acceptable way of meeting someone, spending time with that person, and keeping a nice conversation going to get to know them better. These meetings don’t have to be necessarily romantic in nature. A date shouldn’t be about the the amount of money spent, it should be about getting to know someone, feeling a vibe with someone and creating memories. Meeting someone new is not always easy for everyone. And to some, they have anxiety when it comes to doing this. A coffee date is a simple way of just breaking the ice with someone having fun, not to mention, and coffee. It also allows both people to see the other person’s personality and feel relaxed.
Finally, if you plan a highly elaborate romantic date that involves a full-course meal, and perhaps some wine in a five star restaurant, it will automatically build up a lot of expectation. Here, in a cafe, there are no expectations.

( this is why I thought of the segment, “Coffee With The Captain” because simply it is a fun thing to do- have coffee and talk hockey/life. It’s a relaxing atmosphere – yes, I am STILL waiting on Jacob Trouba… this is why if women had to wait for men the entire human race would have died out by now. – which leads me to the next question.. )

Question 2- Is okay for me to ask a guy out?

MY ANSWER: Like I said above if women had to wait for men the entire human race would have died out by now. Seriously guys take so long to get around to ask a girl out. They overthink things to the point where they literally scared themselves to death and then either think they shouldn’t ask her out or they prolong the asking part.
There are so many Tiktok’s and IG videos that women post that say shit like, “Women were made to be chased.” Sure the guy can still chase a girl but we can hint to the guy that we like him and make him confident enough to ask us out OR we can do the asking. I see no harm in asking for the 1st date, then the pressure of the 2nd goes on the guy. He can then “chase” you for the 2nd.

Question 3- Is it always a bad move to date someone just out of a relationship?

      MY ANSWER:
There really isn’t such a thing as “too early” to date after a breakup. Then there are folks who say it could easily be a major red flag because they haven’t taken the proper time to heal. I say, that it is not a one-size fits all situation. I think it’s best to start that relationship off as friends and just slowly move into the relationship romantically. BUT.. if that particular person that just broke up or divorced someone was not emotionally or mentally invested in the relationship as part of the reason they broke up, then I think the romantic side of the relationship will happen a lot quicker, especially if they are emotionally and mentally drawn to you. But to each it’s own. It’s okay to start ANY relationship off SLOW. We have to remember that it’s not a race.

      It’s a Hot Mess Summer

Join me for my hot mess summer!
My hot mess Summer began June 23rd… but officially started July 1st.
Yesterday I got the keycard to my office space for my company in NYC on 5th freaking avenue!!

So..What’s a hot mess summer you ask?

Well, it’s me being my real self, no photoshop, going out and living my best summer’s life! Usually you see girls talk about a hot girl summer, but I say fuck that shit! Seriously, we should love who we are and not try to be this fake person just to be accepted by society. All the girls who have hot girl summers do the same shit: generally characterized by an emphasis on promiscuity, immodesty, and partying. Having a “hot girl summer” means not being tied down by a boyfriend, dressing “hot”, and living wild.
I hate to burst everyone’s bubble on that, but having a hot mess summer is all about being confident, having fun and not caring what others think. It’s going out there and living your best life.

June 23rd it started at LBI … my family has a house there and I spent some time relaxing and spending time with my parents, brother, sister in law, niece and nephew. We had a good time. We went to the arcade and I actually won a stuffed animal from those claw games! My nephew won his lava lamp while my niece won her pink pillow friend. It was a blast.

July 4th was about my neighborhood and watching these really cool fireworks they let off. Also went shopping , spent time watching Christmas movies ( Christmas in July) and also I do love to read in the summer. I also started painting my seashells. I paint the inside of the shell ( I will have to post a photo on Twitter)

July 7th – Yesterday – I went to NYC to get my keycard for my office space I will be using for a slew of projects. It’s on 5th Ave and it is so freaking awesome! I posted some photos on Twitter, IG and Threads.
I have ALWAYS been a city girl ever since I was 14. I worked back in the city in my early 20s and since then I have been in love with NYC. It’s where I belong and I am doing everything that my soul finds joy in. And the best part is the office building has summer networking events and stuff, so I get to meet new people which I love to do!

I have started asking Jacob Trouba, Ryan Lindgren and Vincent Trocheck from the NY Rangers to do a FUN segment with me for yes my podcast and this blog called Coffee With The Captain and Teammates… but of course, it’s going to be a cruel summer with them. Oh, I also asked Jack Hughes, Dawson Mercer and Nico Hischier of the NJ Devils too, ( the 3 cutest on the NJD- the guys on the NYR are hot but a competition is always good. And oh, yeah, I got options.)

I am a cheerleader, cheerleading coach/choreographer so like duh.. this segment is going to be the most gimme a F-U-N these guys will EVER have.. that is a guarantee. Heck, if they want I will bring my poms and do a cheer for them.
If these dudes want to break Twitter and IG… they will if they are smart enough to say yes to me.

I also started writing the follow up to my book, “The Diary of a Drama Queen” where one of my old haters decided to leave me a bad review on my book. Seriously, I get a kick out that. I have a couple of those that seem to “follow” my every move. If you can believe it, from the Twitter War of 2010 -2011 this girl STILL is obsessed with me and tried to follow my youtube channel and IG account. Like my god… SO, yeah I have fans and a haters club. (I say this as sassy as I can… lucky me)

I also am on Cameo… here’s my link if you want to hire me to send a cheer to anyone… or if you need that comeback for your social media troll.

      A Little Coffee Competition

If you have ever been in NYC, there are TONS of coffee shops to satisfy your love and need for coffee. BUT… which ones are the BEST ones?

Don’t fret… I’m here to tell you of a few that are good for their coffee or their baked treats. The catch though… I am going to have you guys vote which one you’d prefer or if you actually have had coffee from there, give that shop a vote. * sorry but Starbucks is not on the list….*

      First up… Gregory’s Coffee

Their coffee is a little strong but okay. ( if you like Starbucks then this coffee is for you!) The aroma was good, no burnt smell inside the shop. The body was a little heavy, the aftertaste was sharp, the sugar I added to it didn’t hide the sharp taste either. The taste itself was bitter. I wasn’t sure if it was a medium roast or a dark roast.

The cookie in the picture was FANTASTIC! Definitely worth the money. It was fresh, chocolatey and was baked perfectly.

UPDATE: I am visiting again…. I will have an update on the coffee soon.

      Next up was Think Coffee.

Their coffee was not strong the first time I had it, but the 2nd time I had it was very strong. They put way too much cream in it and served it to me cold. Not fun to have hot coffee that is already cold. The aroma in the shop was good, no burnt coffee smell. The body of the coffee was medium both times, but the 1st time the aftertaste was mellow the 2nd time it was sharp. Obviously I enjoyed the coffee the 1st time since I went back. I will go back a 3rd time to see if my 1st or 2nd time defines this coffee.

The PB&J bar which was vegan, was FANTASTIC! It was crumbly, Nutty and had just the right amount of Jelly. I would definitely buy that again!

UPDATE: I have gone back 2x and the coffee was MUCH better both times and that PB&J bar—- OUTSTANDING!
