Cheating, Athletes and Social Media

I woke up yesterday morning and did what I usually do, open up the Twitter app to see what was trending, as what good social media experts and content creators do. Seeing two hockey players trending: Connor McDavid and Sammy Bilas and then looked up as to why they both were trending. I knew from some of the posts that it was not about hockey. I did not have to look that far to find out that Connor McDavid has a video surfacing of him drunk holding the hand of a girl and walking with her-and this girl was NOT his girlfriend Lauren Kyle.

Now, I have trashed NFL players for years on relationships and have always said that hockey players are the best athletes – they are genuine, appreciative of the fans, and just plain more fun. But that does not mean that you are going to have some guys who are NHL athletes do what guys everywhere do: cheat on their wives or girlfriends. Note: this is why some NFL players think they are being “smart” by not putting whom they are dating in their IG feeds or posts on Twitter. Two reasons: first, if there is no “proof” no one can say that they are technically “cheating” and secondly, it leaves the door wide open to sleep with as many girls as humanly possible. (Which is why you see the girl they are with in their stories- that shit disappears in 24 hours)

Back to Connor McDavid now. Everyone knows that he has been dating Lauren for quite a while. You’d have to be living under a rock on Mars to not know that he was taken. As I said on Twitter, girls do better research than the FBI; we all know your situations whether you post about them or not. With social media it’s 10x easier to figure stuff out AND there are tons of websites that actually keep track of this sort of thing. ( PLUG: Who dated who ) So, us girls know what the story is and you know what, sometimes we play stupid to it just to see what you guys are going to do. Yes, dogs can’t outsmart foxes. And some of you guys are dogs- and that term is not meant as a compliment.

Connor has NO excuse to cheat on his girlfriend. But as I have found out over time, some guys are just never happy with what they have, who they are with, and they are constantly searching for better when they already had the best. You see that A LOT with NFL players. They are never satisfied with anything. They need more money, more materialistic things, and more women. Am I surprised that a wholesome guy like Connor cheated? No. But I don’t want to hear him say, “I was drunk and had no idea what I was doing or where I was,” the video clearly shows that he did not like the fact that someone videoed him. He has to know that he is seen as public figure and whatever you do in public is fair game. He also has to know that people are going to recognize him without his uniform on too. Also, guys cheat out of anger, jealousy, or a desire for revenge. Even if their partner hasn’t cheated on them but instead if they’ve done something to upset their partner. And if you check Lauren Kyle’s IG, the last picture she posted was her in the WAG jacket at this game, so yeah they were together. Most couples scrub their social media when they break up. ( Note: if you don’t know what WAG means it refers to wives and girlfriends of high-profile sportsmen)

But what I also said on Twitter is that the girl who held him hand and walked with him, and God only knows what else they did that night, deserves as much shit as he is getting because she had to know who he was and that he was taken. I don’t want her to give an excuse that she didn’t know, especially with the crowd surrounding him and the fact that someone shouted out his name. Girls know three things: 1) If the guy is taken 2) Where they hang out and 3) how to be seen. Watching the video for like the hundredth time- she knew what she was doing. I also want to state something about Lauren Kyle and social media:- It is RUDE and DISRESPECTFUL to tag her in responses on Twitter and IG talking about what Connor did. Have some dignity and also respect for her please. She’s not the one who cheated, she’s the one who got cheated on. Know the difference. As to dating athletes, this does not change my view on hockey players at all. I still think they are most down to earth guys on the planet, having met my share of them.

Switching gears, let me briefly touch on Sammy Blais for a moment. His sister supposedly graduated from either grad school or colllege and posted a picture of herself on IG. Sammy commented underneath, “Sexy babe” and the world lost its freaking ass mind! If you have a sibling then you know that siblings have inside jokes, pick on each other, and like to cause trouble with each other. Also the word sexy does not always entail looks but confidence. You all look like asses for making a terrible assumption.

Say His Name: Cannon Hinnant

I’ve been torn about how to react to news of the killing of the 5 year-old little North Carolina boy that’s making the rounds on social media and NOT the mainstream media. As he rode his bicycle, the perpetrator (his next door neighbor) walked up to him, placed a gun to his head and executed him in broad daylight. Because the child was white and the shooter is black, many are contrasting the news coverage (or lack thereof) and reaction to this killing to the reaction to the death of George Floyd.

Though he was no saint, George Floyd didn’t deserve to die in the fashion that he did. BUT… George Floyd was a 5-time convicted felon. He once held a pregnant woman at gunpoint while she was assaulted, threatening to shoot her in the stomach. He was well-known by the police.  We gave George Floyd four televised funerals, a folded American flag, over 70 days of rioting and millions upon millions of dollars donated to his family. Hollywood held massive protests for George Floyd, including the NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL players, paid tribute to this man.

What does this child get?

Where is Lebron James, Malcolm Jenkins, J.J. Watt, Dwayne Wade,  Odell Beckham Jr.  Demarcus Lawrence, Lamar Jackson, Carson Wentz , Derek Carr, and others? Did these athletes tweet or post that they’re “heartbroken”  at the news of Cannon Hinnant’s execution death?  Did Black Lives Matter even condemn the actions of Darrius Sessoms? Of course not!  Why do you think the mainstream media never covered it?  It’s not the agenda. We all know that if the colors were reversed, we would never hear the end of it. But because the color of skin is what they are, most people will never know that this heartless crime took place. The way the media is manipulating us is to purposely to divide us.

This child was sinless. He saw no color. He’d committed no crime. I can imagine him smiling at the approach of a neighbor, who he’d likely seen before, never suspecting that he was about to be harmed, much less have his brains splattered on his own lawn. There will be no protests, no riots, no cries for justice. Young black men won’t be targeted and killed in retaliation, as many police officers have been. Hollywood celebrities won’t provide him with a golden casket or fund multiple funerals in cities across America that will be televised and broadcast live across social media.  “Black privilege” won’t become a trendy phrase and this child’s name won’t trend on Twitter. Tens of millions of dollars won’t be raised to support the battle against systemic child brutality and abuse, and “CHILDREN’S LIVES MATTER” will never be painted on Broadway in New York and have justice for Cannon billboards put up all over the town thanks to Oprah.

Black Lives Matter doesn’t care about the gun violence happening in Chicago and New York. Black Lives Matter doesn’t help the black kids in the ghettos and doesn’t try to help those kids stay out of drugs and gangs.  It’s a group that only shows up when a white cop ( who really never should have been allowed to stay a cop) kills a black man.  And the fact that every Sports League; NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL paid “homage” to George Floyd and Black Lives Matter is a joke.  These leagues don’t have backbones, instead they want to appease their players.  These players don’t understand that the reason we should stand for the national anthem is to honor all those lives that we lost on 9/11.  Those innocent people were all of different colors, religions, backgrounds, yet we HONOR them simply because it happened on our soil.

Holding a sign,  wearing a T-shirt, chanting a song, taking a knee, or going on your soap box  ( Twitter and Instagram)  isn’t going to change a damn thing!  It’s the actions that will finally make a difference.  Getting your hands dirty to be part of the solution, not part of the problem.

I believe that we are all created in God’s image. I believe that an evil, wicked hatred is spreading in our nation like a cancer.  My heart breaks over the division we are seeing.  People have become so jaded.  They look at everything that happens and have to “add” color to it.  They look at everything that happens and have to blame someone for it.  Instead of showing compassion and kindness towards everyone.  That is the one thing I remember from 9/11- the kindness that everyone showed each other afterwards.  We cared about one another. Not because of skin color, but because we all bleed red.

I pray daily for our nation and everyone in it.

His name was Cannon Hinnant. He wasn’t racist. He wasn’t violent. He wasn’t a criminal. He was an innocent five year old boy.

When you honor a black man who was a criminal just because he was killed by a cop- you aren’t changing the narrative, you are continuing the narrative.

An Open Letter To All Men Everywhere

Dear Men,

It seems that the guys who play in the NFL, once again proof just how dumb you guys can be when it comes to picking women.   But before I go ahead and rant on that, let me let every single guy, including every single athlete know something: Cameras are everywhere!  If you are going to make a decision that in the end, gets you into trouble either with the law, your job, your wife, your girlfriend, etc, just know that someone already has it on camera.  Technology has developed cell phones with awesome cameras. It also has developed awesome surveillance systems in hotels, malls, bars, clubs, stores, and just about everywhere, where you can go and be seen.

Now onto talking about women.  Stop letting your penis make your decisions when it comes to women. There’s such a thing as listening to your gut, or your intuition.  That’s why these dating apps are destroying people, because when you meet people via dating apps, you go by what they are saying about themselves and, most people lie in their dating profiles. Secondly, just because a woman “looks” hot doesn’t mean she has good intentions and a beautiful soul.  Stop judging women by their looks. It can be said to women who do the same thing when it comes to men, but women choose a man differently than a man, chooses a woman. Women are more prone to give a guy who isn’t “hot” a chance, because he has better features than just his looks. Whereas a man, goes straight for the hot chick just to impress his friends, or make people jealous, or because he thinks she will be his arm candy, and they will standout.

Thirdly, Keep your hands to yourself – pushing, kicking, slapping a woman is unacceptable. Now, women need to be called out on this as well, because it’s not right to go ahead and smack a man for ANY reason UNLESS he hit you first and it’s self-defense. In the movies you see women throwing shoes, purses, and even throwing water in a man’s face after she finds out he’s cheating or doing something that gets him into trouble. That’s also unacceptable.

No means no.  Let me repeat that for all the men out there: No means No.  If she doesn’t want to sleep with you, doesn’t want to hook up, doesn’t want to hook up with your friends, doesn’t want to do anything, no means no.  How ever the rest goes down, even if she calls you the worst name in the book, you stay the bigger person and WALK AWAY! Don’t let your emotions get the best of you.

This is for all the athletes: STOP getting involved with women you meet at clubs or parties. NOTHING good can come from it.  Also stop getting involved with groupies that hang out in the SAME hotel as you!  Trust me when I say that women who do this, do this for a reason- they know that you got fame, money, power, whatever else, and that is the ONLY reason they are there!  Again, she could be “hot” but don’t let your penis make that decision to have her go up to your hotel room.  Next thing you know, you fall asleep and she posted pictures of you together all over social media!  Also, if she gets pregnant, you are now going to be paying her child support for the next 18 years!

THINK before you act.

Go for a woman who doesn’t care what you do for a living and treats you like she would treat any guy she would meet. Go for a woman who supports your ups and your downs.

Sparks are great. But investigate. Be attracted to her mentally, emotionally not just physically.  Go for a woman who can be excited about your success and goals in life is someone who won’t hold you back for one reason or another.  If she wants to change you in any way, and they she is not accepting you for who you are, that is a sign of a controlling person and she will never treat you properly.  Finally, pick a woman who can  bring out the best in you and who can maintain her own identity.   Those are the women who you should choose, and if you notice I never said anything about looks or sex.

Stop letting your penis make the decisions for you. Use your heart and your mind to help you pick the best partner for you- not just a one night stand or a “maybe” girlfriend. But  a person who you see yourself with forever.

Why these kids taking part in the #MarchForOurLives are brainwashed

After the Parkland Florida shooting a month ago and the walkouts,  the media had a field day covering every aspect of those tragic events. This week in Maryland there was another school shooting where two students were shot. The only difference is, this time the school resource officer confronted the gunman and shot and killed him. My question is why isn’t this being covered? Go to any news media’s page on Facebook and it’s about the 12th or 15th story. If you don’t think the media influences and sensationalizes school and or mass shootings, this should help you see part of the problem. It would go against their agenda to report any good that can come from the use of a firearm or that there are other uses other than killing innocent people.

That brings us to today, The #MarchForOurLives, another waste of time and energy protest that the media will be eating up and digesting to the point of making everyone nausea.

Here’s how this march is being advertised for those who don’t know:

The teen organizers of Saturday’s nationwide “March for Our Lives,” aimed at toughening gun laws to help stop school shootings in the United States, have won kudos and cash from dozens of celebrities, helping to raise their national profile.” Oh look, it’s seen as a big ole party thanks to impart, Oprah Winfrey, George Clooney, Bill Murray, Taylor Swift, Steven Spielberg and Jeffrey Katzenberg, to name a few. There will be Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson, Demi Lovato and Common are due to be among performers at Saturday’s main march in Washington D.C., while “Trainwreck” actress Amy Schumer and pop star Charlie Puth are expected to headline a march in Los Angeles, organizers said. These kids are in awe, and who wouldn’t be? Having celebrities with whom you “look up to,” and whom, “you love” with such a high obsession, saying that they support YOU; it’s hard not to be starry-eyed when you are 17. These celebrities are so full of themselves, it’s laughable. Oh, so the shooting in Las Vegas meant nothing to you guys? Oh, right, it was adults that got killed and therefore it’s hard to brainwash rationally thinking adults on their agenda of #GunControlNow as it is not hard to brainwash teens whose rational part of their brains are not fully developed until age 25.

By the way kids, that walkout seemed to work out well, didn’t it? It totally STOPPED other shootings and taught all kids what standing in solidarity means, right? I saw kids at the mall minutes after they supposedly were to be standing there, in silence, to remember the victims. All it did was get kids out of class. They learned nothing. I also saw kids on social media, which they really shouldn’t be on, calling out adults who didn’t support the walk out and bullied them. But that’s okay, because they are “Fighting with a purpose.”

Here are some facts, as the NRA has been brought up a million times as the cause for all these shootings. In the 2016 election, the NRA spent $11,438,118 to support Donald Trump—and another $19,756,346 to oppose Hillary Clinton. That’s over $31 million spent on one presidential race.

Let’s look at the bigger picture. Campaign contributions and election spending from gun-rights groups are still a drop in the bucket. The average Senate race, for instance, costs $19.4 million, and the average House seat effectively costs some $1.9 million.

Among industries, the pharmaceutical and health-products businesses rank Nos. 1 and 2 in terms of lobbying activity, with 2016 figures of nearly $249 million and nearly $153 million, according to Open Secrets data. Drugs, like the the one that is causing the opioid epidemic and killing more people Drug overdose is the leading cause of accidental death in the US, with 52,404 lethal drug overdoses in 2015 with 31,537 people die from gun violence. You don’t see your senators or house representatives giving a crap because they get the most money from these lobbyists. You don’t see celebrities give a crap either.

While gun-rights groups made $5.8 million in campaign contributions in 2016, supporters of gun control gave a far smaller $1.62 million — 98% of which went to Democrats.

Now, let’s talk gun laws:

Florida is a “shall issue” state, and issues concealed carry licenses to both residents and non-residents. Florida recognizes licenses from any other state which recognizes Florida’s license, provided the non-resident individual is a resident of the other state and is at least 21 years old ( which was changed from 18) or may be under 21 if the applicant is a member or veteran of the United States Armed Forces.

The Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence, which tracks gun laws nationwide, has given the state a B+ for its gun laws. Chicago itself has some tough laws — there is an assault-weapons ban in Cook County, for example. But it’s not true that Chicago has the strictest gun laws in the country.

Maryland, the state has some of the strictest gun laws in the nation, and you’ll need to be aware of all of them.

Be 21 or older;

Provide state ID;

Have a background check performed by a licensed firearms dealer;

Have a handgun qualification license (HQL); and

Completed a certified firearms safety training course.

The training course has to be conducted either by the Police Training Commission, or meet the standards set by the PTC. Typically, any Maryland-specific firearms course should meet the standards, but you’ll want to check just in case. Or, you can try to attend a free course offered by the PTC if you’re looking to save some money.

The HQL has its own application process and set of requirements too. It’s basically a pre-background check that is performed before you even go in to your local gun store to buy a handgun. ( You can read up on it if you care to.)

As I stated earlier above, there was a shooting in a Maryland school and the SRO confronted the shooter and stopped the shooting from getting worse. But yet, the media, celebrities and even the kids are not praising this because it simply doesn’t fit their agenda.

The march is a waste of time! How about each school have parents get together before your next Board of Education meeting and brainstorm and develop a plan that you can present to them? That’s being productive! That’s actually trying to make changes. That’s not a waste of time and energy has this march is a complete waste.

You have fire extinguisher in every classroom, in every office, every business, and in every house. This helps you in case you are presented with a fire. Fire extinguishers play a crucial role in protecting the environment due to their proven ability to fight fires while they are at their very early stages. In approximately 80% of all incidents, a simple portable fire extinguisher is all that is needed to put out the fire. Knowing the proper way to handle the fire extinguisher also helps simply because if you have someone who is trained in knowing how to use it, that person can keep everyone safe if a fire arises.

The same goes for school shootings.

If you have someone who is trained, someone who knows how to handle a gun, put in a situation to protect kids from a shooter, you not only keep all those kids safe, but you end the potential massacre a lot quicker than having to wait for the police department and swat teams to arrive.

Tightening controls on guns hasn’t made any impact on crime in the UK. Crime was incredibly low when the first controls were put into effect after WWI and continued to be low afterwards. The controls did nothing to stop the long campaign of terrorism, they simply prevented a terrified population from defending itself. And it’s very well documented that the restrictions were not intended to deter crime — they were intended to keep the population from rising up against the ruling class. Which is exactly what occurred in Brexit.

The primary reason that “gun control” doesn’t work that well is because it usually focuses on measures to prohibit law-abiding private citizens from purchasing, owning, carrying, and/or using firearms. It does NOT prevent criminals from using guns ILLEGALLY.

It also does not prevent the mentally-ill from having a gun or using one, and maybe that is something the lawmakers should take a look at. Stop ignoring the fact that guns, when legal and readily available, are routinely used by private citizens to prevent violent crime and to defend themselves against violent crime. Take away the guns from these private citizens, and they are at the tender mercies of armed criminals as well as overzealous and/or feckless law enforcement.

Kids, if you really want change here is what you need to do: Distance yourself from every adult trying to brainwash you on #GunControlNow agendas. You need to think outside the box, not in the one they have been in for years. They not need be sheep but leaders.

I Still Don’t Support The Women’s March

Last year I laid out as to why I did not support the Women’s March and this year my position still has not changed. ( Click here for last year’s article)

A march of angry women in every city won’t change anything.

The Women’s March a year ago aimed to start a movement of women who would continue their activism long after they had packed up their silly little hats and went home.
The #WomensMarch took place in January 2017, but the #MeToo started in October 2017.
For all women who will claim it’s a part of the March, it’s not.
If those “brave” women came out the night of the March, it would have made it dynamic. But they failed to correlate one and the other.

The March last year were all women who were reeling from Hillary Clinton’s loss to President Trump in the 2016 presidential election. Some black women felt betrayed that 53% of white women voted for Trump, while 94% of black women voted for Clinton, yet some underrepresented women felt their issues such as racism, discrimination, police brutality, LGBTQ inclusion, and immigration, were relegated in favor of issues that matter most to straight, white, middle-class women. (Source: The New York Times.)

Many groups felt that they were not welcomed in the March. One of women groups who felt silenced in the march were those who are anti-abortion. The Women’s March partnered with groups like Planned Parenthood, and refused to partner with anti-abortion organizations.
The head of the Women’s March was quoted as saying, “We’re not looking for folks to fall in line with the Women’s March agenda,” she said. “We understand that every organization and every individual will approach their strategy for how they engage in the movement in their own way. “

The Women’s March is “an attempt” at unity, but it failed last year and has again this year. All these protests do is separate us even more, they don’t bond us together.
The Constitution recognizes a number of inalienable human rights, including freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom of religion, the right to keep and bear arms, freedom from cruel and unusual punishment, and the right to a fair trial by jury. Next year why don’t they all buy airline tickets to Egypt, Turkey, Afghanistan, Iran, and any other Muslim country to fight for their sisters rights over there?

FACT: If it hadn’t been for the Republican Congress of 1920 that voted for it. The Democrats would’ve taken longer for you to have that right! The 19th Amendment to the Constitution, of course, gave women the right to vote. It was passed by Congress on June 4, 1919, and ratified on Aug. 18, 1920. Go and tell that to all your liberal friends, I dare you.

My self-worth is not tied to what society says I should wear, how I should speak, who I can date, and what I do for a living. I’m a strong, independent adult, capable of taking care of myself. As a woman living in 2018, I am not oppressed, neither is any other woman today living in the USA. What right has President Trump taken from women? The answer: none

In the age where actual action is the only way to make change, every person that has held a picket sign in 2017 and now, still hasn’t caught on to that. Picketing and protesting is the old way things were done. By actually standing up and being the one to make a change is the only way in 2018 anything can change.

Instead of taking that job that dictates how much money you will earn based on gender, stand up and demand equality.

Instead of feeling the need to sleep with the boss to make it to the top, work hard to earn it.

Instead of “crying wolf” and looking for pity, stand up and be that example.

That is how change occurs.  Not by posting quotes on social media, marching or putting on a self-pity show.

Change is never easy. Adults have a hard time with it- kids are easier to adapt at it. But if you want to evolve, you need to actually take that step towards it, not backwards steps.

Celebrities can be put on their pedestals to give the most profound speeches. But again, that does nothing because they aren’t taking action, physical step by step action. They are just listening to hear themselves talk. It looks good for their publicity.

The bottom line is this: You can talk the talk all you want. But when you don’t walk the talk all it is in the end is just a lot of noise.

Sex, Lies, and Abuse: How the #MeToo Won’t Change Anything

If you ever read my review on “Fifty Shades of Grey,” then you know where I will be going with this article. If you never did read it, let me paraphrase it here for you: “Christian Grey has sadistic sex that leaves Anastasia sometimes bleeding and too bruised to move. The fact that Fifty Shades has taken eroticism violence against women and re-branded it as romance, is something of complete irony. Love is not abuse, and abuse is not love. Just because our society today have erased the shame of hooking up and joke openly about adult entertainment, doesn’t mean that we should fall for what Christian Grey truly is: an abuser. What the movie “Fifty Shades” wants women to believe is that women can fix violent, controlling men by being obedient and loving. That in a nutshell is false. It’s not okay for a man to use sex to control, manipulate and introduce pain to a woman. Christian Grey believes the physical pain a man would inflict on a woman is not as bad as the pain of losing him. Not cool. Not cool at all.”

I can tell you that Fifty Shades of Grey grossed $166.2 million in North America and $404.8 million in other territories for a worldwide total of $571 million, against a budget of $40 million! And most of the women who went to see this movie, bought merchandise and the book, NEVER complained about sexual harassment, sexual abuse or sexual assault. They were also part of this #MeToo movement, which is hypocrisy at it’s finest.

The #MeToo movement has gone from bad to worse. It doesn’t help women at all. Instead it takes the core part of what true feminism is; equality in the workplace, and make it even harder for women. What man in his right mind is going to now want to hire a woman, let alone be left alone with a woman in his office? And what is worse is the fact that some women are taking advantage of the situation by using their sexual relationships they have had in the past with men they worked with, relationships that were consented. Not to mention that sleeping with a boss or co-worker, didn’t get them to where they wanted in the workplace or that the relationship ended badly, they now turn around and say that they were sexually assaulted. Some have also been proven to have falsified evidence to say that they were abused forty years ago.

That’s another thing. If you are abused, you don’t wait forty years and then turn around and say, “Oh, I was afraid for my career at the time, or that I didn’t think people would believe me.” And I am supposed to believe you now? The woman’s health and mental state should ALWAYS come before career. And in that forty years that you wait, you let the guy develop a pattern of behavior. Besides the fact that people do change over that amount of time as well. I can personally tell you that I am not the same woman I was twenty years ago. I can only imagine how these men must feel who are being accused of this, forty years later. I don’t care if it was five years ago, either. Time to come out and say something is the moment it happens, not when the “best opportunity” for the woman to come forward.

That is wrong on so many levels.

Also, has it ever occurred to some people, that willingly sleeping with a boss or co-worker is not assault? The only time it is assault is if you are blackmailed to do so. Then it’s classified as rape. When it is not consented sex, and the man continues to do so, that is considered rape. Rape is, never okay. I repeat, rape is never okay. Now we as society are still dealing with rape, as being one of the highest percentage of crimes year after year, but the media doesn’t talk about it. You hear stories on the news, but there is never a discussion on any talk show of how to curb this crime. Rape kits are also to blame for why most guys “get away with it”

Last week in my of my hockey groups, this guy posted a picture of a woman in the front row behind the bench, wearing a low cut white shirt, along with her coat, opened, and a hat on. You can bet that there were sexist comments, as you would think there would be, on a post like that. The bottom line of why I bring it up is simply this:

This girl wore that shirt on purpose. It’s obvious. But the funny thing is, she’ll wear that shirt, be noticed for all the wrong reasons, and then turn around and sue guys for sexual harassment. (I’m making a point, not saying that this girl in the photo will do that.) That’s what’s wrong with it. Not the fact that she set guys up to even look at her. She totally knew the deal. The sad part is she used her body for that attention instead of her mind. When women stop falling for the “Let’s dress a certain way to be noticed,” crap, then maybe a woman can be appreciated for her brains, not her boobs.

On WFAN’s Facebook page, which is totally being bombarded with negative posts about it’s new afternoon show. I saw a few very sexists comments that talked about how women do’t know how to talk about sports. That women have no place in that category. See; double standard is still alive. Men think they know “everything” and that women are “dumb, stupid, out of touch, or belong elsewhere.”  Maybe when men’s perceptions of women change, women will change. After all, both sexes tend to do things to please the other instead of doing things that please themselves.  We try so hard to make everyone else around us happy, that we forget that the most important person’s happiness is our own.

If that is the one lesson that we all can learn from #MeToo, then I hope most learn it. Remember, respect is earned, not a given.  You need to respect yourself first and foremost if you ever want someone else to reciprocate that respect.  I hope in 2018, the media makes a woman famous for expanding her mind, not her breasts.

The NFL and Hollywood: The definition of hypocrites

….a women’s responsibility not to “provoke” domestic violence.” Those were Stephen A. Smith’s actual words on ESPN in 2014, in reference to Ray Rice’s two game suspension from the NFL for knocking out his wife, Janay, in an Atlantic City resort elevator. (Meanwhile, for those who don’t follow the NFL, Robert Mathis, another football player, was suspended for four games for taking Clomid, to help him & his wife have a third child in 2014.)

To say that a woman is “responsible” for a man’s actions is not only absurd, it is sexist. Let me enlighten ALL men that, a women doesn’t “ask” to get beaten and in the same breath, she doesn’t “ask” or “invite” any man to rape her either. The only actions a woman is responsible for are her own. Period.

Not the cold hard facts on domestic violence: The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence reports that 1 in 4 women will be victims of domestic violence at some point in their lives, 1.3 million women are assaulted by their partner every year, 85% of domestic violence reported is against women. It is estimated that 960,000 incidents of violence against a current or former spouse, boyfriend, or girlfriend to 3 million women are physically abused by their husband or boyfriend per year. Women ages 20-24 are at the greatest risk of nonfatal intimate partner violence. Every 9 seconds in the US a woman is assaulted or beaten. Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women—more than car accidents, muggings, and rapes combined. Domestic violence victims lose nearly 8 million days of paid work per year in the US alone—the equivalent of 32,000 full-time jobs.

Domestic Abuse starts off small. #1 FACT: Most domestic violence incidents are never reported. Domestic violence isn’t just an argument every once in a while. Domestic violence is an ongoing pattern of abusive behavior when one person chooses to control the relationship through force or intimidation. Fear and embarrassment are the reasons that many women do not wish to report the abuse or do anything to stop it. This is the reason most abused women stay in those relationships and blame themselves for the abuse.

And in the case of millions of actors and actresses not coming forward about being sexual harassed, or raped, until years later, the reason highlights itself. They were afraid of being blackballed in Hollywood.  How much further will this topic go? Will we just forget about sexual abuse, sexual harassment,  and sexism when this Weinstein story blows over? Because that is usually what happens. We never “fix” problems, or come up with solutions. All we do is talk things to death and then move on.

Same could be said about the NFL now. They are worst hypocrites. They make all their players wear pink for “Breast Cancer Awareness” and then they allow players to get second chance after second chance when they commit a crime against a woman.  They are afraid to lay down rules as we see with the National Anthem, as we are witnessing. Can you imagine the powerhouse the NFL could really be if they had strict rules that were enforced, educated the players on domestic violence, and then turned around and educated the public?  Can you imagine what true role models those in Hollywood would be in they stood up against sexual crimes, in spite of their own careers?

We can all help eliminate domestic violence and sexual crimes. Can we stop it? Probably not 100% but we can educate others after we educate ourselves first.  We should do this because every child, woman and man deserves that, no questions asked.

.

The President vs The Players

Not every cop is a bad cop. Why can’t people understand that? Ironically people don’t like to be grouped but think it’s okay to put all police officers in the same category. Protesting the national anthem isn’t about cops, it stands for the soldiers who fought for our Country. And it does NOTHING to fix the problem.

The players have this platform and this is all they “came up” with? How about going into the community and talking to people and police? How about bringing people together? Nope, that’s too hard and complicated. It’s easier to look like an uneducated fool than it is to actually put together a plan to bring together people from all backgrounds. This just separates people even further, it doesn’t bind any of us together.

The NFL is the only place where men who kill dogs, people, abuse women and drive drunk, still get make millions. A regular “Joe” would never be given that opportunity.  MLB and the NBA are other places where they get to make millions playing a sport that should be entertaining us. Adding politics to the game, that we the people turn to, to escape the world and it’s problems, is only going to add insult to injury.

Oh, but I hear players yelling, that they have a right to peacefully protest. That right shouldn’t be exhibited in the forum they are doing it in. They’re athletes and they live extravagant lifestyles because they’re afforded that right in the country they seemingly hate.  If I did that at work, I would be fired.

We have people always talking about “Separation of Church and State.” Now how about, let’s have “Separation of sports and politics.”  Politics and sports are two different things but they’re insisting on intermingling the two by doing their protests. If you feel inclined to protest, do it on your own time.  By the way, the NFL fine players for wearing their socks wrong or not tucking in their jersey but they can’t make them stand for the anthem? Talk about hypocrisy.

Maybe society should be look for ways to overcome the problems we have, instead of creating more problems. If the players truly love our Nation and the freedoms that our veterans have put themselves through in order for U.S. to have such a grand Nation, then we should all stand showing respect and honor for our anthem. Period.

UPDATED:

Actually there is a rule that says they aren’t allowed to show personal messages:
ARTICLE 8. PERSONAL MESSAGES
Throughout the period on game-day that a player is visible to the stadium and television audience (including in pregame warm-ups, in the bench area, and during postgame interviews in the locker room or on the field), players are prohibited from wearing, displaying, or otherwise conveying personal messages either in writing or illustration, unless such message has been approved in advance by the League office. Items to celebrate anniversaries or memorable events, or to honor or commemorate individuals, such as helmet decals, and arm bands and jersey patches on players’ uniforms, are prohibited unless approved in advance by the League office. All such items approved by the League office, if any, must relate to team or League events or personages. The League will not grant permission for any club or player to wear, display, or otherwise convey messages, through helmet decals, arm bands, jersey patches, or other items affixed to game uniforms or equipment, which relate to political activities or causes, other non-football events, causes or campaigns, or charitable causes or campaigns. Further, any such approved items must be modest in size, tasteful, non-commercial, and non-controversial; must not be worn for more than one football season; and if approved for use by a specific team, must not be worn by players on other teams in the League.

JJ Watt organized a donation but where’s HIS money? Why is he getting regular people to donate? Did he donate anything that he is organizing at all?
( ** UPDATE: JJ Watt has donated 100k for the donation that he set up.**)
Of course we all heard about the biggest hypocrite Joel Osteen and him not opening his church to help those in his community. He only preaches about God, helping one another and loving each other. He just opened his church because of the backlash on social media, sorry, but that doesn’t count.
Update: Former “Bachelor” star Sean Lowe borrowed a boat and went down to Houston to lend a helping hand. ( I added this to the piece because it’s a positive from the Bachelor show that I am always ripping into)
I am SICK AND TIRED of these celebrities and greedy athletes that don’t STEP IT UP when the fans that support them NEED THEM in time of crisis! Kudos to Kevin Hart for calling out his fellow celebrities and kudos to the Karadashians, Jennifer Lopez, A-Rod, and Chris Young, for putting their money where their mouth is. I have more respect for you now.
Let’s stop supporting celebrities who don’t support us when we need the help. It’s time for them to go the distance. It’s time for them to walk the talk.
